I loved this hotel. Like most people, I went for the ambience of the building itself plus the location, and that did not disappoint at all. Even in my small single room, everything was nice, there were outlets aplenty, and the bathroom was visually lovely (and worked great). The elevator was an old model that I had to remember to manually close the doors for, but also charming. Everything was clean. The location is amazing, as well. My flight to Tunis was pushed back a few days in advance and then my flight was delayed on the tarmac, so the 18-hour layover I'd planned was severely cut short, and I didn't check in until after the big sights were closed or close to. However, because the Royal Victoria is right off of the Medina, I was at least still about to walk just a few yards and visit the Medina (and shop!) before it became dark out. Finally, and most importantly, the staff at the Royal Victoria are wonderful. I was traveling on a long layover as a single female traveler and because of that the staff politely but consistently checked in on me when I was going out to shop or explore, and asked how I was whenever I came back. It was kindly meant and reassuring to me, because Tunis is not the safest place for people to visit, particularly lone travelers. I'm an experienced traveler and have been to places less safe than Tunis, but knowing that the hotel staff are looking out for you is a big plus. Plus, the morning breakfast was very good - I especially loved their traditional sweet pastries.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a great one. We were welcomed in the evening by Hassen and Omar, who helped us settle in and gave us recommendations for exploring the city. They also served us an amazing dinner at the hotel restaurant one evening. It was nice to come back to the hotel and be greeted by Hassen and Omar every evening, it made the trip feel personal. Umaymah was also great in the morning and helped us start our day well. She greeted us on our way to breakfast every morning and helped us with transportation and planning for our day. She also changed the menu for our dinner reservations in the evening, which we very much appreciated and enjoyed dinner very much. Hassen, Omar, and Umaymah all spoke multiple languages and were able to help us with any questions we had in any language. The hotel itself is great, beautiful room and located in a great spot that makes it easy to get anywhere in the city, but the standout part of the stay was definitely the staff, who made our stay so much better and made sure we had a memorable experience in Tunis.

Very friendly and polite staff. Welcoming and warm. Professional and fun. I really enjoyed interacting with them. Hotel is asthetically pleasing with the Tunisian vibes throughout. Very atmospheric and I really loved the colours. Also, something to note that it is exactly in the city centre and I recommend going through the Medina, visiting Zeituna mosque and markets around it. There are roof top bars as well which will provide an amazing view of Tunis. A bit expensive according to local people (8 Dinar for a glass of lemonade) which equals to £2 but you pay for a view. Hotel is located around 10 mns drive from the Carthage airport if the road is not busy and cost me almost 7 dinar early in the morning. Overall great hotel, great location and great staff. You will enjoy your stay. Safe and secure too. Security guards in front are top notch.

The location of Royal Victoria is excellent: on one of the main city squares, with rooms in view of one of the old city gates, it is an ideal location to experience the Medina behind it, as well as to stroll through the Ville Nouvelle ahead. Very convenient for taxi pick up/drop off too. The medina is dead at night, so after hours you will still have the Ville Nouvelle/new town to explore. The room was really huge and with two tiny balconies on the square. The bathroom was also huge and really beautifully tiled, with a traditional pattern. Same for the corridors, which look like a museum. The breakfast was a great winner: it is a full buffet peppered with traditional sweets and savouries (breakfast cous cous!), ready-made omelettes, citronnade, fresh fruit and more. Great to get you ready for the day.

I like the location, it's always crowded because the souk is right there, it's close to Medina, Zitouina Mosque, and Kasbah, Mausoleum of Toubet El Bay, and the Clock Tower! The Cafe Panorama, overlooking Tunis, is in the Medina, a must go! HASSAN, The Manager, assisted me with a room changed when I explained to him, there's a mistake with my room; he got me the room I originally booked and wanted to upgrade me with a suite, but I felt, the room I booked was huge enough! (I got the twin suite with two small balconies, Room 206!) He gave me complimentary dinner for the inconveniences, thank you to all the staff, front desk, housekeeping, kitchen and Restaurant staff, you made my first visit to Tunis memorable SO, If you like nostalgia and fabulous Tunisian decor, this place is for you !
